You’ve probably had scary bar tabs, scary drinks, even scary bartenders serving you scary drinks. But what about a truly scary bar? One that’s…haunted? Some of our country’s bars have been around for a good two hundred years at this point, which means they’ve seen plenty of things good and bad come through their doors. Savannah, Georgia, one of America's most haunted cities
1. Moon River Brewery, Savannah
This bar is located in what used to be the City Hotel. Enough strange things have happened at the bar over the years to warrant having a ghost tv show write an episode about it. Bottles fly off of shelves and a woman in a white hat can be seen from time to time.
Jean Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop, another New Orleans haunted bar
New Orleans is a beautiful and spooky city. The history there is palpable, and there are stories to be heard and told for every old building. Alcohol has played an important part in the city’s past, so the fact that the city lays claim to at least ten haunted bars is no surprise. The Piano Bar and the upstairs Ladies Room are supposed to be the most haunted areas in the entire place.
Frank Giff used to own this bar fifty years ago, and his spirit has apparently been seen hanging out around the bar ever since he fell and hit his head. He apparently also had a love for vodka, and bar staff will find both open and closed bottles of vodka completely emptied of their liquid.
St Augustine, possibly America's most haunted city
4. The Ghost Bar – St. Augustine
This bar is supposed to be haunted by the man who built it. St. Augustine rivals New Orleans as America’s most haunted city, and there are dozens of ghost tours and “spirit tours” (with emphasis on bars and booze) that you can enjoy.
Rumor has it that the spirit who hangs out here has forced several employees to quit. Orbs and some sort of black apparition have been seen in the bar.
